Slate recently had an article on ‘green’ seafood and what is best to eat in order to reduce your carbon footprint. Are there any possible ties in this article to other class topics, such as trophic levels?
http://www.cnn.com/2009/TECH/science/06/22/synthetic.tree.climate.change.ccs/index.html
The above link details a new “synthetic tree” technology that can be used to reduce levels of greenhouse gases. This process is similar to how a living tree functions, but at a much greater rate.
Use the comments section to discuss how this and other “green” technologies are combating carbon emissions and global warming.

Since my sophomore year of college, I’ve wanted a corn snake. (See Wiki for more details: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corn_Snake) Now I’m finally in the process of picking what color variety of snake I’d like to buy. This is where you come in. Below are a selection of different corn snake colors, and I’d like to gauge your preference for which color snake I eventually buy. Keep in mind these snakes are just representative images I pulled off of a Google image search. I’ll be going to a local pet store for the snake I buy for my classroom.
That’s right, all. Not even the science classroom is immune to the current media fad/fascination that is Twitter. I’ll be reserving the class Twitter account mainly for current events (with more important ones warranting a full blog post) and fun/interesting observations, pictures, and happenings involving nature and other science-related topics. I look forward to seeing you following me soon.

Some of the most fascinating and beautiful birds you will ever see. Video taken from the U.S. version of BBC’s Planet Earth {via Youtube}.
Welcome to my blog at Edublogs. This site is intended for any students in my AP Biology class at Simsbury High School this fall, but it is open to any students who find the posted materials interesting and helpful.
I’ll be slowly adding more content as time goes by, so keep checking for embedded videos, current events, class updates, and more. Feel free to post any questions or comments and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
